A Second Brain.
This is a concept that I’ve been exploring as of late, and in particular, how to use digital apps to intentionally create an organized digital “Second Brain”. I have been working towards this goal for awhile now and in the past week, I feel as if I have finally refined the system I use to do so! At the core of my “Second Brain,” is the productivity app, Notion, and I am absolutely in love.
What does this have to do with genealogy, you ask?
Well, the benefit of a “Second Brain” system is that it helps you stay organized throughout all areas of your life. And, importantly, Tiago Forte, the man who spearheads the Second Brain way of life, provides many resources to help you understand how a digital Second Brain can help you. At the core of his approach, is a model of Centralization, where you create a central hub that serves as your command center and through which you carefully process your inputs (e.g., such as the content we consume) and through which you deliver your outputs (e.g., such as how you share your knowledge with others).

With centralized systems in place, you can save time and focus more on sharing all of your fantastic discoveries with other family members.

1) centralizing your family tree file using genealogy software.
