RootsTech is happening! If you are not familiar with RootsTech, it is an annual conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah each year, that brings together two of my favorite things – genealogy & technology. Each year, I look forward to new developments, advancements, and products in the field.
I have not yet ever attended RootsTech, but I do stalk follow the happenings as much as possible via social media, particularly, Twitter. A couple of weeks ago, while perusing the #RootsTech hashtag, I came across tweets from Allison Reid Peacock about a new platform she’s launching called FamilyScrybe™. As I read more about FamilyScrybe™, I became intrigued!
After seeing the demo site of what will be possible on the platform, I was even more excited because I know FamilyScrybe™ will offer ways to make my genealogy and family history research even more interesting for my family & friends. In fact, I’m pleased to share that I will be blogging & vlogging for FamilyScrybe™ on a regular basis! Let me tell you more about the platform.
FamilyScrybe™ is a website that focuses on helping you share your family stories in a way that is visually appealing and easily shareable. There are 4 primary components:
- Family Websites — this is still in development, but you can get a glimpse via the link I provided. A custom blogging platform will allow you to upload a Gedcom file and then expand upon each person’s profile with data, images, and stories
- Vendor Marketplace – get connected to companies that offer all kinds of products/services to help you in your research and sharing. Yours truly is listed for photo services :-). Other categories include archival help & lookups, books, DNA tools, gifts, professional genealogists, and more
- Inspiration & Tips – blog posts related to family history and research methods. Topics are far-ranging and will continue to grow I have three posts up already that you may want to check out! There are several other posts online too – they are all worth reading and sharing with others!
- Hire a Pro – connect with your options for hiring a professional genealogist.
There will be more developments coming from FamilyScrybe™ and I’ll share from time to time as I explore and use them further. I definitely encourage you to check out the site and sign up to receive notices of future developments! Meanwhile, check out the posts I’ve written!
