On July 4, 1931 he married Pearlie Mae “Julie” Kilpatrick and they became the parents of eight children (5 sons and 3 daughters). William passed away on October 2, 1981 in New Bern, North Carolina, after suffering complications from a fall off a ladder while he was at work. He was 71 years old.
