Notes - Was a reverend according to the Lawhorn Family Bible. Started preaching in 1902 at Havelock Mission and was at Lancaster preaching as of Sept 15, 1950.
Haywood remembers him - only met him once. Wright was a traveling preacher and was in New Bern. Wright had told William where he would be preaching, so Haywood went with his dad to see him. Wright, at some point in his life, had saved a train from skipping the tracks; he saw something on the rails and was able to prevent the train from going over it. Because of that, the railroad gave him a a job as a porter on the train. Then, as long as he lived, Wright was able to ride the train wherever he wanted to go, for free. (per conversation with Haywood 4/29/17)
lived at 111 Sycamore St. in Gaffney, SC; Cora's sister Sallie, stayed with him several summers. Lived next door to the church. (per Cora on Facebook 4/28/17)
