Taking My Own Advice 🙂

As for many across the country, this past weekend has been one filled with enjoyable moments with family! And I imagine we have all learned at least one family history story that we did not know about. I know I did.

On Thanksgiving Day, I shared a short video on TikTok and Instagram highlighting 3 different ways you can capture family history and this weekend, I took my own advice directly to heart ❤️.

This weekend, I went with #3 as I describe in the video and video-recorded my mother telling stories from the past – we had a ball! Notably, she told me about my very 1st Thanksgiving in life and where I spent it. We spent it with friends of hers and 46 years later, one of those friends still lives in the exact same apartment so I even know what it looks like as I have memories visiting her there. I just thought that was so cool.

And since we were talking about 1st Thanksgiving experiences, I had to (of course!) tell my daughter the story of her 1st Thanksgiving and how her namesake, her great-grandmother, first met her.

Kaleya with her great-grandmother – her 1st Thanksgiving.

There were more stories and more information flowing, and what a great time we had!

As for the videos, they are now in my permanent, online family archive so that our future family can enjoy them with ease. I also, already have plans to begin reusing the video clips in other ways throughout the year. What fun!
