I am ecstatic and over the moon today! For, last night, I received a wonderful gift from a cousin.
That was the gift of family pictures!
This is a picture of my paternal grandfather William Koonce Sr. (in black), his brother Harvey (in white), and Harvey’s wife, Mary.
This fabulous picture was sent to me by the granddaughter of one of Harvey and my grandfather’s siblings. She was clearing out some computer space found these pictures and thought kindly enough to send them to me as they belong to her still-living grandmother Helen. Helen is my great aunt she is my grandfather’s youngest sibling and is the only living sibling of the 11 kids her parents had.
And there are more pictures! Including a set of three in which most of those 11 siblings are pictured. The pictures also have who I think is their mother, my great-grandmother Josephine.

Based on some photo detective work we have deduced that these pictures were taken at Christmas some time in the 1940s.
There is still work to be done to positively identify everyone and to do that, over the next couple of days we will be reaching out to family members.
And how cool is that to have these pictures of my grandfather and his family! It is absolutely spectacular!
As far as the birthday mention? Today would have been my grandfather’s birthday. The timing on this is impeccable! 🙂🙂
